If you didn't know, EXO, 2NE1, f(x), SHINee, and Wonder Girls are my favorite kpop groups. Yea, they're popular but I don't like them because they're popular or because they're hot ok maybe a little, but because of their music. The American and Korean entertainment industries don't work in the same way necessarily. In Korea, you like the idols, so you like the group, so you like the music. In America, we tend to like their music, so we like the artists. So when I see an idol, I'm not going to be like "oh you're pretty and have a nice personality so I'm going to like your group". Ahhhhhhhh NO. I like your music, then I like you. So my favorite groups are my favorite because I got to know their music before I got to know them.
