GIRLS' DAY 걸스데이 "RING MY BELL" 링마벨 REVIEW [MV]

Girls' Day had their 2015 summer comeback with the title track "Ring My Bell". Let's chat, shall we.

SONG:

Ok the introduction with the black dude was unnecessary. I don't know why kpop songs have that nowadays. They had them in TTS' "Holler" and BESTie's "Love Options". The phrase "Ring My Bell" can have many meanings so I didn't know what it meant exactly. It seems like it has an intimate meaning when Sojin says "gaseumi teojideuthae; oh my boy, say my name, baby" which translates into "My heart is about to explode; oh my boy, say my name, baby". But then it sounds like a race to a guy's heart when Hyeri says "daerun yeojadeura get out my way; nan kkok neol gajikkeorago" = "Other girls, get out my way; I will have you for sure". I guess kpop songs nowadays are supposed to have double meanings. Other than that, the chorus is really catchy.

Let's talk about ENGRISH: "I feel you breathe, I feel you breathe, I feel you breathe." What? No offense Girls' Day, but you sound kind of creepy saying that about someone--especially about a guy who you want to ring your bell.

Line distribution was all great until it got to Yura's "rap". She only got two lines for her rap and it lasted three seconds! It was sounding really good and I was ready to get into it but then--it stopped. I was just like "That's it?". I just wish they gave her rap more lines since she is the main rapper.

MV:

The MV was really bright and colorful. As for the girls themselves, I feel like Dream Tea was trying to go for a sexier concept to get more sales and attract more people. You can tell through the outfits and choreography. They really focused on their hips during choreography cuts. But thank God the choreography wasn't over sexualized or uncomfortable to watch and was actually fun, especially the part where they go "ring, ring, ring, ring my bell" with the arm out and the legs shaking. I think they have best girl group summer comeback, choreography wise.
